Shraddha Arya is gearing up to make her much-delayed Sandalwood debut opposite Ganesh in Maduve Mane (MM).

Rumour has it that Shraddha missed out on working with the Golden Star earlier because she went AWOL with her boyfriend on the sets of the still-to-be-released Ullasa Utsaha. “It’s all rubbish. If I’d run away, I wouldn’t have got another chance to work with Ganesh. Besides, I never even reported on the sets of Ullasa Utsaha,” she maintains, adding, “I didn’t have a boyfriend then and don’t intend to have one now.”

But why has Shraddha been maintaining a low profile all this time? “I wasn’t hiding for the past year. I was completing my education and learning Spanish and didn’t give much importance to films,” says the actress, who’d rather look ahead to the new film she has with Ganesh. “It isn’t often that you get lucky twice,” says Shraddha, who plays a “very Indian, very homely” girl in MM.

Though this is Shraddha’s first Sandalwood outing, it isn’t the first time she’s been in front of the camera — she’s played Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter in Nishabd, Abhishek Bachchan’s wife in a TV commercial, and Hrithik Roshan’s girlfriend in another commercial. And now, she’s playing a class 12 student in the Shahid Kapur-starrer Paathshaala, and says the Bollywood heart-throb is very disciplined on the sets. “I’m not a close friend of his. But from whatever little I’ve seen, he appears to be a quiet person and is very nice to chat with,” she says.
